“Go forth and multiply!”

The Bible is not an ordinary book.
You cannot get the true meaning by reading it just once.
You have to go deep and read between the lines.
Then perhaps and you will get a clearer understanding.

I read an article from “The Philippine Star” entitled “Tie a purple ribbon for RH” written by Domini M. Torrevillas.
This is a movement that shows women rights and family control.

Why the color purple?
According to “The forum for family planning & development, Inc.”, purple is a color associated with many causes.
Around the world, purple has been used as a color to raise awareness for causes like cancer, violence against women,
Alzheimer's disease, and many more.

Here in the Philippines, purple has been used to symbolize
women's rights and reproductive health.
Ironically, it is also a religious color.

This is one special event which speaks the right of women with regards to the Reproductive Health System, human equality and family planning.
Many women nowadays have HIV/AIDS.
Some are abused by their husband or partner.
Most family suffer because of plenty of children and worse, some women die because of sexual abuse or health problems.

There is nothing wrong with family planning and birth control.
In fact, this is a very noble way to exist.

I just have a comment about what the stand of the Catholic Church
regarding the matter.

Having asked Manny Pacquiao to comment on the matter,
the Pacman quoted a biblical verse: “Go forth and multiply”.
This quote catches my attention!
If you will listen to how Pacquiao said it, yes, it is grammatically wrong.
But grammar set aside, what is disturbing is how Pacquiao actually understood and interpreted the verse.

"Go forth and multiply” means multiply in the sense that people would accept and believe Him. He pertains to spiritual things not physical satisfaction.
God did not order a literal translation of the Bible.
God most definitely does not want us to suffer, to be poor
and to experience hardship.

Yes, we have free will.
Yes, we can choose to have more kids.

But is irresponsible parenthood our choice?

Think again.

  2. i just watched the news yesterday sa 24 oras..interview ni Jesica Sojo kay Leah Salonga.. Ms. Salonga said she is pro RH bill. according to her, 11 women died evryday dahil sa sex abused, getting pregnant at the early age, at ung mga babaing physically mahina, when they give birth namamatay.

  3. Its actually ok to have many kids BUT we all need to consider a lot of things..like if we can provide them all their needs like shelter, education, food etc. And also, if WE as a PARENT are matured enough to handle and raise kids if we decided to have too many..

Whether were PRO or ANTI the RH Bill.. at the end of the day, its still our decision that will count.

In this case, I honestly think that the Government needs t focus on the rural part of the community..

Aside from this, the Government also needs to start a directive for SEX EDUCATION for college students.. Not only they will learn but also realize the importance of family planning and such..

  4. There are things that we need to consider.
If you think that you are capable of raising 2,3 or more children, then go ahead, have many kids as many as you want! Karapatan ng mga Batang maisilang ng maayos, mapalaki ng maayos, at MAKAPAG ARAL. Think.
    Let us help ourselves.
